Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED?

Once your completed camper application has been accepted and approved (and you have paid your $50 registration fee), we will send you a packet with additional information about camp.

I LOST MY ACCEPT PACKET OR NEVER RECEIVED IT. WHAT DO I DO?

If you did not receive an invoice and a health form, please contact Jeff or Sarah Skrove at (763) 856-3578 to confirm we received your application.

IS MY DEPOSIT REFUNDABLE?

We will refund your deposit only if you apply and there are no more openings. If you are accepted to camp and then cancel, your deposit is NOT refunded. Any additional payments will be refunded if camper cancels at least 30 days before camp. If a cancellation occurs less than 30 days, all payments are forfeited.

WHEN WILL I HAVE TO MAKE FINAL PAYMENT?

Final payment for camp will need to be received by June 29, 2007 unless other arrangements are made. Please contact Jeff or Sarah Skrove at (763) 856-3578 to discuss arrangements for payment if you cannot pay by this date.

WHICH AIRPORT SHOULD I FLY INTO? WHICH BUS TERMINAL DO I USE?

Rochester International Airport is about 40 minutes from Eagle Bluff. Minneapolis International Airport is about two hours from the camp. LaCrosse Airport is about an hour away.

HOW MANY CAMPERS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We look forward to serving about a hundred campers in 2007.

WHAT IS THE CAMPER TO STAFF RATIO?

We have two Dorm Counselors plus a Dorm Assistant in every cabin of 20 campers. The overall camper to staff ratio is less than 2 to 1.

WHO ATTENDS CAMP?

We are fortunate to have a camp that reflects the beautiful diversity of our country. We have youth of all ethnic and economic backgrounds. Some kids live in the city while others live in rural communities. There are Christians and youth of other faiths, and others that do not know what it means to be a Christian. We love them all. Northern Light Summer Camp also encourages family's to attend. There are activities planned for teens, pre-teen, mom and dad!

WHAT IF MY CHILD GETS HOMESICK?

It is natural for children to miss their family and the comforts of home. But in our experience, camp is so much fun and it is jammed pack with so many great activities that the opposite problem usually occurs - children forget to call home and in many cases would like to stay at camp forever. Our counseling staff is trained to deal with the issue of homesickness. In the younger children's dorms we usually have counselors who are moms and dads and are able to encourage the homesick youth the way a college aged counselor would not. Of course if both the child and parent agree that the child should leave camp early the parents are able to come pick him or her up.

DO YOU HAVE A BELIEF STATEMENT?

Yes, you can read it here.
